Today was the big day, the first part of Judah’s Laryngotracheal Reconstruction (LTR) surgery. We arrived at the hospital bright and early around 6:15 this morning, got checked in, updated all of Judah’s information, and gave him our last kisses as they took him back to the operating room.
The surgery to repair Judah’s airway began around 8:45, and took about 4 hours, less time than we had initially expected. The doctor came out cool and confident afterwards, saying everything went extremely smooth and exactly as planned. Judah is currently resting in his room at Children’s Hospital in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, where he’ll spend the next week or so in recovery and healing. He is in a bit of pain after this major operation, but is resting comfortably for the most part, and now that he is resting comfortably, so can we.
All three of us are incredibly moved and extremely grateful to all of you for the overwhelming outpouring of support, prayers, thoughts, and love we received today. We cannot thank you enough. We will keep the updates coming in the next few days as Judah continues to heal and recover.
Our love,
J-N-J
